VideoWallaby runs on your computer and your wall stays on your computer. This page says exactly what leaves it, when, and what we keep when you buy the app. Where VideoWallaby sends anything, there is a switch or a button, and this page names it.

Who we are

VideoWallaby is made by sho.run LLC ("we", "us"), 525 Courtney Way, Lafayette, CO 80026, USA. Reach us at info@sho.run.

What stays on your computer

Crash reports

On by default. Switch: Advanced settings → Send crash reports.

When VideoWallaby crashes, or hits an error it didn't expect, it sends a report to Sentry so we can fix it. A report holds: what kind of error it was, where in the program it happened (a stack trace), which parts of the program were loaded, your operating system version, the app version, and whether the report came from the Mac app, the Windows window or the Windows engine. File paths in a report have your user folder replaced, so your name doesn't appear.

A crash report never holds: your name, email, computer name, a memory dump, a screenshot, what was on the wall, your wall's name, your files, or the camera's frames.

Turning the switch off stops reports at once, on every part of the app.

Setup steps, if you say yes

Off until you answer. Asked once, at first launch. Switch: Advanced settings → Share setup steps.

If you choose Share, VideoWallaby sends a small set of events to PostHog so we can see where setup is slow or fails: that the app opened, which setup step you reached and when, whether a wall started or why it didn't (a reason category such as "permission" or "screens missing"), the layout and screen count, how long a wall ran, and, for camera alignment, how it went: succeeded, refused and why, how many dots were found, how steady the camera was, how confident the result was.

These events carry a random install ID the app makes, and nothing else that identifies you: no name, no email, no screen names, no window titles, no pictures, no file names. The IP address your computer sends from is discarded by PostHog on arrival and not stored. If you choose Not now, nothing is sent, and you can change your mind in Advanced settings.

Sending a recording

Only when you press Send. Asked each time; never a switch.

If a camera alignment fails, the app offers once to send the recording so we can see what the camera saw. If you press Send, it sends the frames of that attempt (a few seconds of your wall as the camera saw it, as JPEG images), the times they were taken, the pattern schedule, and your wall's layout settings with the wall's name removed. Nothing else from your computer goes with it. The recording goes to Sentry, tied to that one report, and is deleted after 90 days.

A recording shows your wall and whatever is in front of it. Don't press Send if that includes something you'd rather we didn't see.

Buying and signing in

VideoWallaby is a one-time purchase on this website. Checkout runs on RevenueCat with Stripe as the payment processor. We never see or store your card number; Stripe handles payment and keeps what the law requires of it.

What we keep from a purchase: the email address you bought with, what you bought and when, the price paid, and the country used for tax. To unlock the app you type that email, receive a one-time code, and sign in. The app then stores a sign-in token on your computer and checks it with RevenueCat from time to time. Your email is used to unlock the app, to send your receipt, and to answer you when you write to us. It is not added to any mailing list unless you ask, and it is never linked to crash reports or setup events.
